Jerry Morris Jerry Wayne Morris went to be with the Lord on July 3, 2008 at his home with his family at his bedside. Jerry was born on Feb. 23, 1956 in Raymondville and was 52 years old. After graduation from El Campo High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and spent a total of 14 years in the service before being honorably discharged. He was employed as a landscaper with Professional Lawn Care before retiring in March due to illness. Jerry was a long-time resident of El Campo and the proud father of Eric Allan Morris of Dallas. Years later, Jerry met the true love of his life, Diane, and they were married on Jan. 24, 2005. In addition to his wife and son, Jerry is also survived by his mother, Ada Morris of El Campo, whom Jerry loved very much and was his hero; beautiful step-daughters, Danielle Hamburg of Mississippi, Kimberly and Brynne Jacoby of Illinois.; step-son, Christopher McPherson; sister, Debra Kay Layton and husband Bubba of Van Vleck; and brother, Bill C. Morris and wife Sharon of El Campo. Also several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews from Corpus Christi and El Campo survive him. We love you very much and you will be forever in our hearts. His father, William C. Morris, preceded him in death on Dec. 31, 2007. Funeral services were held Monday, July 7 at 10 a.m. at New Life Assembly Church with Pastor Danny Roberts officiating. Burial followed at Garden of Memories Cemetery with military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post 251. Pallbearers were Brad Morris, Todd Morris, Michael Bolcik, E.L. Brashear, Acyes Hughes and Johnny Ray Camacho. Memorials in memory of Jerry Morris may be made to assist the family with funeral expenses. Arrangements were under the direction of Triska Funeral Home. |
