Bridal party honors Emily Faas Aug. 2

Emily Faas was given a bridal shower from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday, Aug. 2 at First Baptist Church. Emily and Jeffrey Green, have set their wedding date for Sept. 6, 2008.

Turquoise and brown candles and floral arrangements decorated the hall. Refreshments included cake, punch, banana bread, muffins, fruit and breakfast casserole.

Special guests were Anna Faas, grandmother of the brideto be; Catherine Dornak, mother of the bride-to-be; and Pam Green of Edna, future groom's mother.

Hostesses presented the honoree with money to purchase a vacuum cleaner.

Come & go party held for Leah Ganoa

A come and go miscellaneous party was held for Leah Gaona, future bride of Derek Smith, Saturday morning, Aug. 2 at the parish hall of St. John's Catholic Church in New Taiton.

The 18 hostesses presented the honoree with a set of T-Fal pots and an engraved picture frame.

Decorations featured the registration table which was covered in a white and brown lace tablecloth accented with a dried fall arrangement. It held a photograph of the couple and guest book.

A special cake with the couple's name and date of wedding inscribed on top was served with sandwiches, chicken ball, ham ball, cheese and poppy seed rolls, chips and punch.

Special guests were Rita Hernandez, mother of the brideto be; Roxann Smith, future groom's mother; and Josie Marcaurele, grandmother of the prospective groom.

Leah and Derek will be married Oct. 11, 2008.

Parinello & Leopold given couples party

A "stock the bar" couple party honoring Tony Parinello and Tammy Leopold was held Saturday evening, Aug. 2, at Chili's Bar & Grill in Kerrville. Hosting the party were Greg and Courtney Durbin, Lance and Beth Lidiak and Joseph and Valerie Hennigan.

The engaged couple and guests played several games for entertainment. Appetizers with a meal were also served.

Special guests were Robert and Cathy Leopold, parents of the bride-to-be; and Martha Leopold, grandmother of the bride-to-be.

Tony and Tammy will be married Aug. 30, 2008.

They received wines, liquor and barware from the guests and hostesses.

Baby shower held

for Amirah Davis

A baby shower honoring newborn Amirah Zi' Arie Davis was held at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church fellowship hall Saturday, Aug. 2 at 2 p.m. Amirah, the daughter of Isiah and Wendy (Edwards) Davis of Missouri City, was born May 18, 2008 at Southwest Memorial Hospital in Sugar Land. Wendy is formerly of El Campo.

The party was given by Amirah's grandmother, Charla Williams, who was assisted by hostesses Bernice Terrell, June Bullock, Connie Barnes, Kim King and Frankie Faniel.

A meal of chicken fried steak, chicken spaghetti, dirty rice, potatoes, green beans, corn and salad was served. A Winnie the Pooh themed-cake by Debbie Fialla and a punch bowl cake by Laurie Buzek were served for dessert.

Decorations in various shades of pink featured a diaper cake and six diaper cupcakes by Quala Matocha and balloons.

Special guest was Tyronica of Houston, a friend of Wendy's.

Amirah received a car seat, changing table, stroller, Diaper Genie and bassinet.

Pena given baby shower at JBrew's A baby shower was held for Veronica Pena at JBrew Coffee, 123 S. Mechanic, Saturday, Aug. 2, from 4-7 p.m.

The registration table was decorated with pastel colors, a diaper cake, baby carriage made from diapers and a pink baby figurine. The room was decorated with baby blue, yellow, pink and pastel colored balloons, baby pink decorations and babythemed decorations.

The cake inscribed with "Welcome Baby" served as the centerpiece for the refreshment table with homemade pastel cupcakes, 4-layered delight and Jello punch. The menu included chicken spaghetti, green beans, salad, homemade garlic bread and fresh brewed tea.

Special guests were paternal grandmother Josie Lopez and maternal grandmother Maryann Pena.

Hostesses were Melissa Acuna, Rosa Acuna, Maria Guevara, Sonia Lopez, Adela Perez, Mary A. Pena, Valarie Pena, Letticia Acuna, Apolonia Gusman, Gracie Lara, Alice Villarreal and Raeassia Villarreal-Jacobs. They presented the mother-to-be with a matching carseat/stroller and swing. She also received a crib and matching changing table from Josie Lopez, Brenda Ortiz and Laura A. Ortiz. She received numerous baby clothing, shoes and accessories.
