Louise/Hillje Clean Up Day Louise-Hillje Beautification Organization will have a dump site Saturday, Sept. 20 at 3rd and Market streets across from the Fire Station in Louise from 8 a.m.-12 noon. Accepting plastics, paper, aluminum, glass, cans, small metal objects and household debris. Large appliances, tires and motor oil will not be accepted; however Rice Farmers Coop, 106 Market in El Campo will accept old tires for a fee depending on size, starting at $2.50. The county brush pile in Louise, located by the old county barn will be open for tree limbs and lumber. Any donations will be appreciated as the cost of the dumpster is $180 per load. Volunteers are needed for clean up.

WCYF Steer And Pen of Three Tag-in Steer and Pen of Three tag-in is Sept. 20 from 8-11 a.m. at the Crescent Fairgrounds. Steer weight requirements is a minimum of 525 lbs. but not exceed 775 lbs. Pen of Three weight requirement is a maximum of 725 lbs. Beef Merit Heifer draw will begin at 1 p.m. All exhibitors must pay the remaining cost of their heifer and the $15 entry fee at this time. Wharton County 100 Club Banquet The Wharton County 100 Club hosts its 28th Annual Awards Banquet Tuesday, Sept. 23 at the Wharton Civic Center. Social hour starts at 6 p.m. and dinner is served at 7 p.m. Entertainment is the Curt Miller magic and comedy show. Membership dues may be paid the night of the banquet. Classes in conversational Spanish Classes in Conversational Spanish begin at the Northside Education Center on Tuesday, Sept. 23. These classes are taught by a certified instructor and last for eight weeks. There is still room for additional students. St. Philip Church Picnic St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in El Campo hosts its annual picnic Sunday, Sept. 28 with live music by the Dujka Brothers and The Texas Sound Check at the KC Hall on Armory Road. The 'Adrenaline Rush' 90 ft. inflatable obstacle course is a new attraction this year and the rocket climbing wall, Bungee Run, Bounce Castle and the Bounce House will be available along with a huge country auction at 1 p.m., a silent auction, bingo, country store, cake wheel, fish pond and a variety of other activities, including rides for the children. Run Wild 5K Run/Walk Registration Come run wild with the El Campo Museum on Oct. 4 during the 2nd Annual Run Wild-5K Run/Walk, a 2-mile walk and kid's race. Derby Doll Mini Clinic A Derby Doll Mini Clinic for ages 4 years through 8th grade is set for Saturday, Oct. 4 from 9 a.m.-noon at the El Campo High School practice gym. The cost is $30 per child, $15 for each additional child per family. Registration forms are available at the ECHS principal's office. Papers can be mailed in with payment or you may register at the clinic. T-shirts are guaranteed for dancers registered by Monday, Sept. 29. Heritage Center Clay Shoot The Rotary Club of El Campo and Garwood Sporting Clays are teaming up to raise money for The Heritage Center of El Campo with a sporting days shoot Thursday, Oct. 9 from 3-7 p.m. The $75 entry fee includes 100 targets and a barbecue dinner. Raffle tickets for a $1,300 shotgun are $25 each. Advertising sponsorship signs are available for $300. Spay/Neuter Assistance Available The Matagorda County SPCA has a program to help financially disadvantaged people in Wharton, Jackson, Matagorda and the southern part of Colorado County get their dogs or cats spayed or neutered. Memorial Bricks For Your Veteran Based on requests, American Legion Post 251 is enlarging its Veterans Memorial site to include 160 additional memorial bricks at $100 each.
