BULLETIN BOARD WCJC Jazz Band Performs Thursday Wharton County Junior College's Center for the Arts presents "JAZZ! A Concert," on Thursday, Oct. 2. The program will feature the WCJC Jazz Band playing many favorite jazz and blues selections like Tuxedo Junction, String of Pearls, and In the Mood. The program starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Horton Foote Theatre located in the Duson-Hansen Fine Arts Building on the Wharton campus. Ticket are $4; students free with ID. Run Wild 5K Run/Walk Come run wild with the El Campo Museum on Oct. 4 during the 2nd Annual Run Wild-5K Run/Walk, a 2-mile walk and kid's race. The entry fee is $25. Derby Doll Mini Clinic A Derby Doll Mini Clinic for ages 4 years through 8th grade is set for Saturday, Oct. 4 from 9 a.m.-noon at the El Campo High School practice gym. The cost is $30 per child, $15 for each additional child per family. Registration forms are being sent home from school or available at the ECHS principal's office. Papers can be mailed in with payment or you may register at the clinic. T-shirts are guaranteed for dancers registered by Monday, Sept. 29. EC Life Advocates Host Annual 'Life Chain' The El Campo Life Advocates hold their annual "Life Chain" Sunday, Oct. 5 at 2 p.m. Meet at the gazebo to register and choose a sign to hold while praying for one hour while standing (or sitting) along Jackson and Mechanic streets. Free T-shirts will be give to the first 100 people to register. Everyone is invited. MONDAY, OCT. 6 KJZT 72 Annual Meeting KJZT 72 hold their annual meeting and social Monday, Oct. 6 at 6 p.m. in the St. Philip Parish Hall. A meal will be provided and members are asked to bring a dessert. ECHS Blood Drive Student Council and NHS sponsor a blood drive with South Texas Blood and Tissue Center on Monday, Oct. 6 from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at the high school auditorium. Fundraiser For 2009 Dodge Ram Crew Cab Louise Band Booster Organization is accepting donations in the amount of $5 for a chance on a 2009 Dodge Ram Crew Cab 1500 truck to fund scholarships for Louise High School Band students. This is being done through the Hometown Scholarship Program of the Don Davis dealership. Tickets will be sold at all home football games and at the Louise Chamber of Commerce Fall Festival. COMING SOON Heritage Center Clay Shoot The Rotary Club of El Campo and Garwood Sporting Clays are teaming up to raise money for The Heritage Center of El Campo with a sporting days shoot Thursday, Oct. 9 from 3-7 p.m. The $75 entry fee includes 100 targets and a barbecue dinner. Raffle tickets for a $1,300 shotgun are $25 each. Advertising sponsorship signs are available for $300. ECHS Mini Cheer Game Oct. 10 Due to Hurricane Ike, the ECHS mini-cheer game has been changed to the homecoming game Friday, Oct. 10.
