WCJC Jazz Band Performs Thursday Wharton County Junior College's Center for the Arts presents "JAZZ! A Concert," on Thursday, Oct. 2. The program will feature the WCJC Jazz Band playing many favorite jazz and blues selections like Tuxedo Junction, String of Pearls, and In the Mood. The program starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Horton Foote Theatre located in the Duson-Hansen Fine Arts Building on the Wharton campus. Ticket are $4; students free with ID.

Louise FFA Alumni Fall Fishing Tournament The Louise FFA Fall Fishing Tournament begins Friday, Oct. 3 with check-in at the Louise High School Ag shop. Saturday, Oct. 4 is weigh-in at St. Procopius Church Hall in Louise. All entries should be mailed by Oct. 1 and will be taken until Oct. 3rd. Customer Service Excellence Seminar El Campo Chamber of Commerce hosts a Customer Service Excellence Seminar from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3 at the Northside Education Center. Cancer Convicts Host Pumpkin Patch Cancer Convicts hosts Pumpkin Patch and more Saturday, Oct. 4 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Located between Socha's Nursery and Showplace III. A $5 donation per pumpkin. Fun, food, games and pumpkins. Tickets will be available at the Pumpkin Patch. Photo's available or bring your own camera. Proceeds benefit Relay for Life American Cancer Society.

Blood Drive For MD Anderson Cancer Convicts Relay For Life Team hosts a blood drive for MD Anderson Saturday, Oct. 4 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. between Showplace III and Socha's Nursery. Photo ID required. Run Wild 5K Run/Walk Come run wild with the El Campo Museum on Oct. 4 during the 2nd Annual Run Wild-5K Run/Walk, a 2-mile walk and kid's race. The entry fee is $25. Awards for top finishers in each age group for adults and kids. For information call 543-6885.

Derby Doll Mini Clinic A Derby Doll Mini Clinic for ages 4 years through 8th grade is set for Saturday, Oct. 4 from 9 a.m.-noon at the El Campo High School practice gym. The cost is $30 per child, $15 for each additional child per family. Registration forms are being sent home from school or available at the ECHS principal's office. Papers can be mailed in with payment or you may register at the clinic. T-shirts are guaranteed for dancers registered by Monday, Sept. 29. Singers Perform At Friendship Park Bishop Fred A. Jones and the Jones Family Singers of Bay City perform live at El Campo Friendship Park Saturday, Oct. 4 at 5:30 p.m. Bishop Fred A. Jones of Mt. Zion P.C. Church of Markham will speak on "Hurricanes, God or Satan?"

Taiton Community Fall Festival Taiton Community Center Fall Festival is Sunday, Oct. 5. Homemade dressing and baked chicken plates for $7 per plate. Plates to go and inside dining also. All kinds of fun and entertainment. Auction starts at 12:30 p.m. A free polka dance with Johnny Underwood performing from 4-7 p.m.

St. John's Church Host Bazaar St. John's Catholic Church annual bazaar is Sunday, Oct. 5 at the Hungerford Hall in Hungerford. Barbecue chicken, beef, sausage and all of the trimmings and the ladies' famous sauerkraut. Serving begins at 10:30 a.m. and Auction begins at 12:15 p.m. There will be all types of entertainment during the day; Bingo, country store and kids rides.

EC Life Advocates Host Annual 'Life Chain' The El Campo Life Advocates hold their annual "Life Chain" Sunday, Oct. 5 at 2 p.m. Meet at the gazebo to register and choose a sign to hold while praying for one hour while standing (or sitting) along Jackson and Mechanic streets. Free T-shirts will be give to the first 100 people to register. Everyone is invited.

KJZT 72 Annual Meeting KJZT 72 hold their annual meeting and social Monday, Oct. 6 at 6 p.m. in the St. Philip Parish Hall. A meal will be provided and members are asked to bring a dessert.

ECHS Blood Drive Student Council and NHS sponsor a blood drive with South Texas Blood and Tissue Center on Monday, Oct. 6 from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at the high school auditorium. Blood is in very short supply due to canceled drives and closings due to the hurricane. You must be 17 years old, in good general health and weigh more than 110 lbs. For information call 543-6341.

WC DAV/Auxiliary Meeting Wharton County DAV Chapter and Auxiliary 72 hold their monthly meeting Monday, Oct. 6 at the VFW Hall. A covered dish meal served at 7 p.m. Meeting will follow.

Chamber Connection Event, Shining Stars El Campo Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture invites you to meet the new Shining Stars who joined during the Chamber Connection Event on Tuesday, Oct. 7 from 5-7 p.m. at the El Campo Civic Center. Fundraiser For 2009 Dodge Ram Crew Cab Louise Band Booster Organization is accepting donations in the amount of $5 for a chance on a 2009 Dodge Ram Crew Cab 1500 truck to fund scholarships for Louise High School Band students. This is being done through the Hometown Scholarship Program of the Don Davis dealership. Tickets will be sold at all home football games and at the Louise Chamber of Commerce Fall Festival. Heritage Center Clay Shoot The Rotary Club of El Campo and Garwood Sporting Clays are teaming up to raise money for The Heritage Center of El Campo with a sporting days shoot Thursday, Oct. 9 from 3-7 p.m. The $75 entry fee includes 100 targets and a barbecue dinner. Raffle tickets for a $1,300 shotgun are $25 each. Advertising sponsorship signs are available for $300. 'Walking 9 to 5' Host Bake Sale El Campo Clerical Paraprofessional Association's Relay For Life Team, "Walking 9 to 5," host their second annual fundraising bake sale at the ECISD Administration building on Friday, Oct. 10 from 8 a.m. until sold out. ECHS Mini Cheer Game Oct. 10 Due to Hurricane Ike, the ECHS mini-cheer game has been changed to the homecoming game Friday, Oct. 10. The girls need to meet at the track gate by the spirit item booth at the end of the first quarter. They will cheer during the second quarter.

Christian Life Center Anniversary/Conference Christian Life Center of El Campo holds an anniversary and conference banquet Saturday, Oct. 11 at 5 p.m. at the El Campo Civic Center, 2450 N. Mechanic. Celebration of the new sanctuary will take place. Guest speaker will be Minister Renita, Pastors Delgado, Ike, Howard and Edwards and also Psalmist Minister Fred Green of Spiritual High.

Cancer Stampers Relay For Life Fundraiser Cancer Stampers Relay For Life have a raffle for a custom made hope chest and all proceeds go to the American Cancer Society.
