Tina Burris & John Bowie wed at First Baptist

MRS. JOHN BOWIE TRANSOU TINA SUZANNE BURRIS
Tina Suzanne Burris and John Bowie Transou were united in marriage at 3 p.m., Sept. 27, 2008 at First Baptist Church in El Campo. Richard DuBroc performed the double ring ceremony.

Parents of the bride are Norman L. Burris and Jeanette C. Burris of El Campo. The groom is the son of Renee Shenk Transou of Austin, formerly of Houston, and the late Thomas Bowie Transou.

Church decorations featured black and white with touches of red and silver, as well as red roses and white tulle.

Carolyn Goelzer, organist, provided the music. Selections were "Cherish the Treasure" and "By Heart, by Soul."

The bride, escorted by her father, wore an off-white satin with pearl, sequin and rhinestone embellishments featuring a two-piece top corset back. Made by the bride, she wore a back clasp adorned with her grandmother's pearls in her hair and carried a bouquet of red roses.

Matron of honor was Connie Rudloff of Richmond, the bride's best friend. Bridesmaids were Ginny Petersen of Pearland and Julie Tupa of El Campo, sisters of the bride; and Stephanie Hudging of Austin, sister of the groom.

Bridal attendants wore a floor-length black formal and carried a bouquet comprised of red roses accented with red, white and silver ribbons.

Flower girls were Sarah Rudloff, friend of the bride; Breanna Briones, bride's greatniece; Katie Transou, groom's niece; and Emily Tupa, niece of the bride. Alexander Ramirez, brides' great-nephew, was ring bearer.

Travis Transou and Steven Transou of Katy served as best men. Groomsmen were Jeremiah Burris and Tanner Albrecht of El Campo, sons of the bride. Ushers were George Lopez, bride's nephew; and Ryan Rudloff, friend of the bride and groom. The bride's brother, Steven Burris, was the photographer.

Witnesses were family members and friends of the couple.

A reception followed at the El Campo Civic Center. Members of the house party were Amanda Briones and Amber Ramirez, nieces of the bride; Rachal Hildebrand and Heather Pietsch, friends of the bride.

Rehearsal dinner was held Friday at First Lutheran Church in El Campo.

The bride is a 1982 graduate of Dickinson High School. She attended College of the Mainland and the University of Houston at Victoria. She was on the honor roll throughout high school, VOE historian, choir secretary, was on Alief Rodeo committee for Texana MHMR. She is a substitute teacher and homemaker.

The groom is a 1983 graduate of The Memorial High School and a 1987 graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University where he received a bachelor of arts degree in history. He was a member of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity, public school teacher for 12 years in the area of special education. He is a CDL-A driver for Southwest Traders Inc. in Houston.

After a wedding trip to a bed and breakfast in Victoria Saturday night and a condo stay in Port Aransas, the couple will reside in Katy.
