Parish Of The Nativity Fall Festival Nativity Catholic Church in Eagle Lake holds its Annual Fall Festival Sunday, Oct. 19. Activities will be held at the pavilion area at 545 S. Austin Road across from the hospital. Barbecue chicken with the trimmings is served 11 a.m.-1 p.m. for $7. A live auction at 1 p.m. followed by a drawing for 41 prizes including a $1,000 gift card.

Garwood VFD Host Hamburger Supper The Garwood Volunteer Fire Department hosts a hamburger supper at the Garwood Fire Station Monday, Oct. 20 from 6-8 p.m. Come and enjoy eat in or take out.

Meet The Candidates The Wharton County Democratic Party sponsors a Meet the Candidate forum Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the El Campo Civic Center's Duson Room. The public is invited to meet local Democratic candidates for office, as well as a representative for U.S. Senate candidate Rick Noriega. Light refreshments will be served.

American Legion, Auxiliary Meeting American Legion Craig-Harriss Post 251 and its Ladies Auxiliary hold their regular monthly meeting Tuesday, Oct. 21 in the new hall beginning with a social at 6:30 p.m. and a meal at 7:15 p.m. Ladies Auxiliary members are asked to bring desserts.

American Red Cross CPR/FAB Classes The American Red Cross has the following health and safety course: First Aid Basic, 6-10 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 21. Classes will be held at 2200 7th Street, first floor, Bay City. Cost is $22, certifications for CPR classes are valid for one year. Registration fees are payable by check or money order. Special Education Records Available The El Campo, Louise and Rice Special Education Office ask that if your child received their last special education services during the 1999-2000 school year, to come by Meadow Lane Resource Center Special Education Dept., 2620 Meadow Lane, Monday-Friday from 7:45 a.m.-4:15 p.m. through Oct. 31 to pick up records. Records not picked up will be destroyed.

WCJC Chamber Singers In Concert Wharton County Junior College's Chamber Singers will present a concert Thursday, Oct. 23. The students will open with The Star Spangled Banner and end with some bouncy boogie woogie! The performance will be in the Horton Foote Theatre in the Duson Hansen Fine Arts Building on the Wharton campus. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Cost is $4 and students with ID are free. This is a Center for the Arts production.

Fundraiser For 2009 Dodge Ram Crew Cab The El Campo Band Parents' Booster Club and Don Davis Motor Company have teamed up to give supporters a chance to win a 2009 Dodge Ram Crew Cab 1500 pickup. Tickets at $5 each are available at all ECHS home football games and at various activities around the area. Funds go to band members for scholarships and educational activities as part of the Home Town Scholarship Program. For information call Wanda Evanicky at 979- 578-0793.

Spay/Neuter Assistance Available The Matagorda County SPCA has a program to help financially disadvantaged people in Wharton, Jackson, Matagorda and the southern part of Colorado County get their dogs or cats spayed or neutered. Memorial Bricks For Your Veteran Based on requests, American Legion Post 251 is enlarging its Veterans Memorial site to include 160 additional memorial bricks at $100 each. Early Help For Children Important Region III Education Service Center Early Childhood Intervention Program provides support and services to families with children, birth to age 3, with developmental delays and disabilities. Free Night Classes Available Free Adult Basic Education/GED/English as a Second Language classes are offered here by Wharton County Junior College.
