Allegations of aggravated assault and theft are among the reasons several Wharton County residents are facing felony trial.

The grand jury handed down an assortment of indictments following October deliberations. Although the true bill is not an indication of guilt, it does show the prosecutor has enough evidence against a person to proceed with a felony trial.

Those indicted include:

• Gerardo Alejo, 24, of 612 Main in El Campo for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and endangering a child. He allegedly used a knife to stab a woman on May 19 while the woman was holding a child. Alejo also stands accused of using a vehicle as a deadly weapon in the incident.

Alejo has a prior felony conviction for burglary of a habitation.

• Jeremy Allan Andrews, 31, of 15423 Sierra Valle in Houston for theft. He allegedly stole a backhoe valued at more than $20,000 on April 7.

Andrews has a prior felony conviction for theft.

• Eduardo Bravo Jr., 33, of 909 Ave. C in El Campo for assault family violence. He allegedly struck a female family member on July 27.

• Fred Cantu, 50, of 424 Kincaid in Wharton for possession of a controlled substance. He allegedly had less than 1 gram of cocaine on June 4.

Cantu has prior felony convictions for forgery and robbery.

• Jason Reece Cox, 30, of 201 Anderson in Schulenberg for burglary of a habitation. He allegedly broke into an El Campo building May 11 with the intent to steal.

• Mauricio Alexander Escobar, 29, of unknown address in El Salvador for evading with a motor vehicle and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He allegedly had a stolen vehicle Aug. 5 when he fled from a Department of Public Safety trooper. Escobar also stands accused of using the vehicle as a deadly weapon.

• Juan Manuel Garcia, 28, of 1415 Norris in El Campo for tampering. He allegedly attempted to alter, conceal or destroy marijuana during an investigation.

Garcia has prior felony convictions for burglary of a habitation and unlawful possession of a firearm.

• Juan Garza, 41, of 203 King Road in Wharton for burglary of a habitation. He allegedly broke into a Wharton home June 11 and stole currency and lottery tickets.

• Patrick Gonzales, 20, of 401 Alamo in El Campo for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He allegedly had a firearm when he threatened to kill a man on April 8.

• Russell Glen Horelica, 47, of 602 Todd in East Bernard for indecency with a child. The incident allegedly took place June 1, 2007 involving a girl under the age of 17.

• Michael James Manciaz, 21, of 413 E. Strand in El Campo for possession of a controlled substance in a drug-free zone. He allegedly had less than 1 gram of cocaine within 1,000 feet of an El Campo youth center on Aug. 28. Manciaz also stands accused of exhibiting a firearm during the incident.

• Juan Manuel Manzano, 22, of Hwy. 71 in El Campo for possession of a controlled substance and tampering. He allegedly had less than 1 gram of cocaine on Aug. 9. He also stands accused of attempting to alter, conceal or destroy cocaine during a traffic stop investigation on Aug. 28.

• Jermaine Deshaun Middleton, 23, of 1904 Long Dr. in Wharton for arson. He allegedly started a fire in a home on Aug. 4.

• Latasha Nasha Norman, 27, of 3207 Blackshear in Wharton for tampering. She allegedly attempted to alter, conceal or destroy merchandise during a theft investigation Aug. 7.

• Edward Ramos Jr., 50, of 914 Henderson in Palacios for aggravated kidnapping. He allegedly kidnapped a person Aug. 4 with the intent to commit indecency with a child.

• Hector Javier Rios, 27, of 1103 E. Jackson in El Campo for two counts of indecency with a child. The incidents allegedly took place June 23 and June 25 involving a girl under the age of 17.

• Desmond Rodgers, 23, of 502 N. Richmond Road in Wharton for burglary of a habitation. He allegedly broke into a home Aug. 17 with the intent of stealing a bicycle.

• Guillermo Rodriguez, 18, of 4343 S. Shaver #5822 in Pasadena for burglary of a building. He allegedly broke into an El Campo building July 17 with the intent to steal.

• Jesus Antonio Romero, 44, of 10222 Forum West Dr. #1109 in a town not listed for driving while intoxicated third or more offense. He allegedly drove drunk July 6 using the vehicle as a deadly weapon.

Romero has two prior misdemeanor DWI convictions.

• Miguel Sanchez, 39, of 710 Davis Lane in Victoria for driving while intoxicated third or more offense. He allegedly drove drunk July 12 using the vehicle as a deadly weapon.

Sanchez has two prior misdemeanor DWI convictions.

• Roderick Dee Shelton, 26, of 805 Speed in Wharton for evading with a motor vehicle. He allegedly used a vehicle to flee from a Wharton police officer on Aug. 26 using the vehicle as a deadly weapon.

• Gregorio Vallejo, 21, of 202 Orange in Louise for evading with a motor vehicle. He allegedly used a vehicle to flee an El Campo police officer on Aug. 31 using the vehicle as a deadly weapon.

• Crystal Lynn Webb, 25, of 2512 Ave. C in El Campo for possession of a controlled substance and the intent to deliver it. She allegedly had more than 4 grams of cocaine on Aug. 26 with the intent to sell.

• Damain Jermaine Wilkerson, 22, of 8901 Bissonett in Houston for failure to stop and give information and evading with a motor vehicle. He allegedly fled the scene of a July 16 crash in which a woman was injured. Wilkerson also stands accused of using the vehicle to flee from an El Campo police officer in the same incident using the vehicle as a deadly weapon.

Unsealed indictment

Claudia Trevino, 28, of 2801 North 28th in McAllen for possession of marijuana. She allegedly had more than 50 pounds on Oct. 20, 2007. The indictment was handed down during March deliberations, but just unsealed in October.
