LISD to canvass election results, pick new officers The Louise ISD board of trustees will canvass election results and elect new officers when they hold their regular monthly meeting Monday. Four slots on the sevenmember board were available during the Nov. 4 General Election. Slots up for grabs were Position 2, held by Debbie Townsend; Position 5, held by David Menefee; Mark Wendel's Position 6 seat and Position 7, occupied now by Jay Heard. Only Townsend and Wendel drew opponents, but both won re-election by wide margins. Once all four trustees are administered the oath of office, the board will elect a president, vice president, secretary and secretary pro tem. The board will also consider and approve its audit report for 2007-2008 as well as some routine local policy updates as recommended by the Texas Association of School Boards. The board meets at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17 in the district's meeting room, in the administration building at 408 Second Street in Louise. Board meetings are open to the public. |
