Trees of Light Celebration to be held at Houston Hospice Houston Hospice, a member of the Texas Medical Center, will hold its 13th Annual Trees of Light Celebration of Life in the gardens of the former home of the late Mayor Oscar Holcombe at 1905 Holcombe Blvd. on Thursday, Dec. 11 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. This commemoration holds special meaning for the Houston Hospice family. Some of the old trees on the front lawn of this historical home are adorned with tiny white lights that can be reserved with a gift of $20 per light. Each sparkling white light on the trees commemorates the life of a friend or family member or represents a special occasion, and will shine throughout the holiday season. In addition, brand new merchandise has arrived and may be purchased for holiday gifts ranging from $7.50 to $50 plus shipping and handling. The merchandise includes a line of 100 percent silver jewelry, hand-made ceramic any-occasion ornaments and note cards. Visitors may walk the historical gardens and enjoy the festive decorations, caroling and holiday refreshments. Houston Hospice is known for their specialized clinical care, psychosocial support, spiritual guidance and volunteer assistance. All proceeds benefit patient care and educational programs of the hospice. All donations, including those for ornaments or lights to honor or memorialize a loved one, can be made throughout the holiday season.
