Coastal Plains Umpire Meeting The Coastal Plains Umpire Chapter holds its first meeting of the 2009 high school baseball season at 7 p.m. Jan. 7 at the SBC building in Wharton, 305 N. Rabbit Workshop For WCYF Exhibitors A rabbit workshop is Thursday, Jan. 8 at the Wharton County Youth Fairgrounds office complex. The workshop begins at 7 p.m. in the Directors Room. The workshop will go over caring for rabbits and showmanship. For information call the Fair Office at 979-677-3350.

El Campo Book Club Meeting The El Campo Book Club meets Jan. 8 at 5 p.m. at the El Campo Library. This month they will discuss The Bright Forever by Lee Martin. Community Bible Study Every Thursday Community Bible Study continues its look at the book of Matthew each Thursday, 10 a.m.-noon at Memorial Baptist Church. WCYF Exhibitors Must Order Broilers WCYF exhibitors must order their broilers by Friday, Jan. 9 for $1.50 per bird. A minimum order is 25 birds per exhibitor and a maximum order is 50 per exhibitor. Project Grad Meeting 2009 Senior Serve Project Graduation meets Monday, Jan. 12 at 6 p.m. at the Northside Cafeteria. All students who plan to participate in Senior Serve should attend this meeting along with their parents as final preparations are being made for the Class of 2009 Senior Serve scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 25.

2010 Project Graduation Meeting Project Graduation junior class student and parent meeting is 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12 at the Northside Cafeteria, after the 2009 Senior Serve meeting. Do not eat or drink for 12 hours before screening. Cholesterol/triglyceride test is $5, HDL, LDL and triglyceride is $10 and the HDL, LDL, triglyceride and glucose test is $15.

Derby Doll Booster Club Selling Bricks The Derby Doll Booster Club is selling engraved bricks to be placed in front of the new practice gym on the high school campus. Bricks range in price from $40-$50, and deadline to order is Jan. 20. This will be the last chance to have a brick placed on the wall, as space is limited. Memorial Bricks For Your Veteran Based on requests, American Legion Post 251 is enlarging its Veterans Memorial site to include 160 additional memorial bricks at $100 each.
