Taylor competes in Miss Teen Texas pageant

TIFFANY TAYLOR
Tiffany Joy Taylor, the 15- year-old daughter of Darlene Taylor of Palacios and Randall Taylor of Alba, was honored as a Miss Teen of Texas Top Six Finalist at the 2008 Miss Teen of Texas Scholarship and Recognition Program held recently in Austin.

Taylor, a freshman at Palacios High School, received an Outstanding Achievement Award, Miss Teen of Texas Program Creative Writing Award (first place), a Miss Teen of Texas finalist medallion and was included in the Honor Court.

Out of approximately 400 candidates, she was one of 16 to make it to the second level and then be selected as a top six finalist.

Candidates were interviewed, quizzed and criticized on how well they handled themselves in front to an audience. She was also judged on her creative writing skills.

"It's impossible to express how grateful I am to the Palacios community and the Palacios ISD for helping to instill within me the true meaning of family and team work," she said. "I want to thank everyone for helping to prepare me for such a program and for believing in me. Without their generous support and prayers this would not have been possible. I pray God blesses you all. " This program allows students like Taylor to excel and qualify for the Miss Teen of America, which gives them the opportunity to travel all over the USA and foreign countries as ambassadors.

Taylor, a former El Campo student, is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold C. Kight Sr. of El Campo and niece of sponsors Denise and Blair Couey, also of El Campo.
