IMUD may hire part-time accountant Isaacson Municipal Utility District directors will consider hiring a part-time Certified Public Accountant when they meet tomorrow night. The board's meeting was to be held last Thursday, but was canceled due to a lack of quorum, according to Wanda Evanicky, IMUD general manager. The only new item on the board's agenda is to discuss and possibly take action on a service proposal by Conrad Rod. "This young man is going to bring a proposal to us about doing some bookkeeping and so forth," Board President Floyd Fisher said. "IMUD doesn't have anything for checks and balances. This young man had an idea about possibly checking over our bills and making Wanda's job a lot easier." Fisher said as a CPA, Rod would be able to put together financial information to have a much clearer picture of where the district stands. "Future directors will be able to know what this board left them is precise and accurate and there's procedures in place to make sure the district is able to keep going," Fisher said. If hired, Rod would work on a month-to-month basis. "It would be on an hourly basis which shouldn't cost us more than $200 a month," Fisher said. The IMUD serves around 190 customers just outside the northeastern city limits of El Campo, providing water, sewer and garbage collection services. IMUD will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15 at the district's office at 403 N. Liberty. The meeting is open to the public. |
