LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Special Christmas dream really came true Editor, the Leader-News:

I would appreciate the opportunity to thank two very special individuals in our life who gave us a most unbelievable and very generous gift for Christmas. These two individuals are our nephew, Coby Rod and his wife, Sandie, who flew our daughter, Allisha, to El Campo from Indianapolis on Christmas Eve to give us the best Christmas present we in our wildest imagination could have ever wished.

Due to my medical problems it was not feasible for us to bring her home. Our son, Chris, and his wife Tiffany live in El Campo, but it had been four years since we had both of our children home for Christmas. Every time I heard the Christmas song, I'll Be Home for Christmas, I would cry. Those of you who have children living a long distance away know how much you miss them, especially on holidays.

Also we express our love and thanks to Sandie's sister, Shellie Hlavaty, who at the time was seven months pregnant, and in the early morning of Christmas Eve went to Bush Intercontinental Airport to pick up Allisha and meet Coby half way to El Campo in order for him to deliver our Christmas gift.

Coby and Sandie are two very special individuals, not only for what they have done for us, but for all of the kindness that they extend to others. They have been blessed with three of the most precious children in the world, Anna, Luke and Will, who all had to fight health problems to survive, and thus we believe that is one of the reasons that they believe that all children, no matter their age, are so important to their parents.

Coby and Sandie, we love you, and again thank you from the deepest part of our hearts. Soup for a lifetime!

Special people make El Campo exceptional Editor, the Leader-News:

Having been born and raised in El Campo, I have the kind of pride that only a Texan can. With this in mind, I write.

One of El Campo's exceptional qualities is its small town network of caring friends that reach out at just the right time, over and over again. We experienced this repeatedly as we went through the challenge of a beloved mother slowly slipping away from us. Every single effort was appreciated. Thank you.

We want to especially appreciate Houston Hospice - El Campo in a public way. El Campo - you should be proud of the wonderful group of volunteers in this organization! Life moves fast and is full for all of us, yet these caring people volunteer their valuable time to reach out and help families navigate through a challenging time, and they do it exceptionally.

El Campo has much of which to be proud and this group is another example of one of El Campo's exceptional qualities.
