City Arrests

Anthony Wayne Garza, 24, of 613 Lundy was arrested at 8:54 p.m. Tuesday, June 11 on warrants for public intoxication, a pardon and parole probation violation - evading arrest, failure to maintain financial responsibility, minor in possession of tobacco, disorderly conduct - fighting and three counts of failure to appear and two counts of no driver’s license. Processed, he was transferred to the Wharton County Jail the next day.

Property

Police are investigating the report of identity theft filed at First State Bank – El Campo, 1808 West Loop.

A headstone was damaged in Holy Cross Cemetery overnight on Monday, June 10. “It’s unknown at this time if it was random or targeted,” Lt. Russell Urban said.

Burglars struck a vehicle parked in the 200 block of Kentucky between 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 11 and 8 a.m. Wednesday, June 12. A back pack blower and chainsaw were stolen. Loss is estimated at $550.

A purse and its contents along with jewelry and cash were stolen from a vehicle parked in the 600 block of East around 3 a.m. Wednesday, June 11. Loss is estimated in excess of $900.

An air compressor, tile and wheel barrow were stolen from the 700 block of South Wharton around 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 12. Loss is estimated at more than $900.

Violence, weapons

Police are investigating a threat made in the 500 block of Lundy on Tuesday, June 11.

Police are investigating a report of shots fired in the 600 block of Rice Tuesday, June 11. “Several people heard several gunshots around 4:30 a.m. that morning. Officers later found 13 casings in roadway,” Urban said, adding the investigation continues, but that, at this point, officers have not determined why the shots were fired.

A report of stalking and family violence was filed on the grounds of Garden Villa Nursing Home, 106 Del Norte, around 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 12.

Alcohol, drugs

Orlando Joseph Romo, 21, of 504 Carson Circle in Wharton was arrested by sheriff’s deputies for evading arrest along with warrants for two counts of possession of marijuana and evading arrest.

Joseph Lupe Morin, 54, of 902 Cotton was arrested at 1:17 a.m. Tuesday, June 11 for driving while intoxicated. Processed, he posted a $500 bond and was released the same day.

Carlos Anthony Corbo, 17, of 401 S. Washington was booked at 8:38 p.m. Wednesday, June 12 on a Brazoria County warrant for possession of a controlled substance.

Angel Lee Garza, 23, of 501 E. Strand was booked at 2:32 p.m. Wednesday, June 12 on a warrant for possession of a controlled substance.

Bruce Earl Calhoun, 52, of 6826 FM 1096 in Wharton was arrested by sheriff’s deputies at 2:11 a.m. Thursday, June 13 for possession of a controlled substance.

Property

Camilo Rodriguez, 35, of 611 Bruns was arrested at 6:18 p.m. Monday, June 10 for criminal mischief. Processed, he posted a $500 bond and was released the same day.

Ricky Longoria, 36, of 1220 CR 257 in Egypt was booked at 6:09 a.m. Wednesday, June 12 on warrants for burglary of a habitation and theft of a firearm. Processed, he posted $20,000 in bonds and was released the same day.

Jorge Miguel Cruz, 21, of 2001 Ave. F was arrested at 5:37 a.m. Tuesday, June 11 for evading arrest.
