Mindi Snyder

Former El Campo City Manager Mindi Snyder has been named as one of two candidates for interim city manager in Bay City.

Selected from a field of 14 possible candidates, she and Richard Morton Jr., a former city manager of Odessa fired in October 2017 are in contention, according to a report filed in the Bay City Tribune.

Snyder, an El Campo native, served as El Campo’s city manager from 2010 to April of this year, resigning voluntarily as she sought a post in Victoria.

With a background in finances, Snyder previously served as the finance director in cities of El Campo, Wharton and Rosenberg before being named city manager here.

Despite leaving paid public service, Snyder continues to work with community efforts in El Campo and has said in previous interviews that she has no intention of moving.

The Bay City council is expected to conduct interviews this week and hopes to have a recommendation by their next council meeting on Thursday, July 11.

In May, Bay City voters approved charter amendments to change their form of government from mayor-council to city manager-council, similar to what El Campo uses.
