Delayed Dedication

El Campo dignitaries (l-r) unveiled the WIllie Bell Park dedication in 2009, with Harold Simmons, former Councilwoman Charlotte Brown, Councilwoman Gloria Harris, Arthur Sanford, Paul Bell, Paula Bell Cole, then Mayor Phillip Spenrath and then Community Services Director Leonard Sternadel in attendance at the Second Street park.

Painting the corners with a wicked curve when not throwing a smoking fastball, an El Campo man hurled his way to the World Series twice, but remains largely unknown.

Willie Bell lived in the wrong time.
