A new stop sign has been placed on Palacios Street at its intersection northbound with Monseratte Street.

The change makes the intersection a four-way stop, Police Chief Terry Stanphill said Wednesday.

Motorists, he added, will be given time to adjust to the change. “Officers will write warnings for two weeks,” the chief said.

The fine for running a stop sign in the city of El Campo is $238.

There had been a stop sign at the site previously, he said, but added, it was removed several years ago.
