Hungry thieves made their way through the city last week snatching up enough for a good backyard barbecue.

Stolen items include $200 in meat from the grocery store and $78 in beer (three varieties to offer a selection, apparently).

An assortment of food, beer and wine was taken from Best Seafood & Steakhouse, 620 E. Jackson, Monday as well. Stolen items include $900 in food along with $200 in assorted beer and wine.

It was then, however, that the thief or thieves may have left a clue – stopping for a $4 cheesecake before they left the building.

Police ask the public to let them know if they saw anything odd around the store between 9:30 p.m. Monday, June 10 and 10:18 a.m. Tuesday, June 11.

Remember the suspects are beer-guzzling meat-eaters with a weakness for cheap desserts who don’t mind taking what doesn’t belong to them.

Does that describe anyone you know?

If so, call the ECPD at 543-5311.

Keep in mind, however, to not call if you are just upset that someone swiped the last piece of grandma’s brisket at supper last week.
