Leon Lee Markel, 35, of 204 Gallery Court was arrested at 1:42 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10 for driving while intoxicated and driving while license invalid after being stopped in the 700 block of North Wharton. Processed, he was transferred to the Wharton County Jail later that morning.

Juan Carlos Mata, 32, of 125 Agnes was arrested at 12:53 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11 for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and running a flashing red light after being stopped in the 100 block of West First. Police seized marijuana, a grinder and a pipe. Processed, he was transferred to county jail later that day.

A teenager was arrested for marijuana possession after being stopped in the 100 block of West Third around 3 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11. Processed, the child was released to a guardian.

Manuel Anthony Vasquez Jr., 29, of 805 Dunlap was arrested at 4:11 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11 on warrants for possession of a restricted smoking material, bond forfeiture (assault causing bodily injury), parole violation (driving while under the influence), failure to appear, public intoxication, two counts of disorderly conduct – language and six counts of no driver’s license. Processed, he was transferred to county jail.

Property

Alex Rojas, 27, of 316 Tres Palacios in Palacios was arrested at 11:18 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11 on a warrant for theft of an item valued at less than $750. Processed, he was transferred to county jail the next day.

Violence, weapons

Reuben Scott Dennis, 29, of 3401 E. Rio Grand in Victoria was arrested at 7:11 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10 for assault causing bodily injury and resisting arrest after police were dispatched to a disturbance on the grounds of El Campo High School, 600 W. Norris. Processed, he was transferred to county jail the next day.

Adam Dave Abelar, 38, of 1008 Thrift was arrested at 12:40 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13 for assault family violence with a previous conviction – causing injury. Police were dispatched to a disturbance at Abelar’s home, one with a knife reportedly involved. No information on level of injuries was available as of presstime. Processed, he was transferred to county jail the next day where he posted a $30,000 bond and was released.

Later the day he was released, Abelar was re-arrested on a warrant for violation of a bond or protective order issued against him. Processed, he was re-booked into the county jail. Once there, he posted a $2,500 bond and was once again released.

Other

Andy Silva Carranza, 63, of 613 Lundy was arrested at 8:35 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15 on a warrant for false report to a police officer or other law enforcement employee. Carranza reportedly said his vehicle, which had been involved in an Ellwood Street crash, was stolen. “After investigation, it was determined that he filed a false report about his vehicle being stolen and he was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash and fled the scene, later reporting the vehicle as stolen,” El Campo PD Lt. Russell Urban said. Processed, Carranza was transferred to county jail later that day.

City Incidents

Property

A case of credit or debit card abuse was reported on Higbee Street. Taking place between Nov. 3 and 4, the crime was reported Nov. 10.

A Mack truck bumper was reported stolen from the grounds of Absolute Pipeline Integrity, 905 Frank Stubbs, sometime between Friday, Nov. 9 and Monday, Nov. 12. Loss is estimated at $3,000.

Two LED head lamps were reported stolen from the grounds of Stripes, 1710 S. Mechanic, around 2:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12. Loss is estimated at slightly less than $3,500.

A hit-and-run was reported in the parking lot of H-E-B, 306 N. Mechanic, around 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12. Damage was estimated at $1,000.

Vandals struck on the grounds of H-E-B around 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12. Damage to a Chevrolet Silverado is estimated at $200.

Violence, weapons

Police are investigating the report of a neglected child in the 300 block of East Strand. The crime allegedly took place between July 13 an Nov. 13.

A case of family violence as reported at the El Campo Village, 1185 Olivia, around 8:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9. No injuries were reported.

Property

Torre L. Robinson, 41, of 1308 Short was booked at 1:35 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14 on a warrant for theft.
