Julia Zamora Smith, 53, of 713 Lynard in Lane City was arrested at 4:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7 for driving while intoxicated second offense after being stopped on Palacios Street in the parking lot of Zip In Zip Out. Processed, she was transferred to the Wharton County Jail later that morning. She posted a $1,500 bond and was released the same day.

Leroy Nelson Bryant, 59, of 409 W. Monseratte was arrested at 6:56 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10 for driving while intoxicated, expired registration, failure to maintain financial responsible, no driver’s license, obstruction or retaliation by threat and tampering with evidence after police discovered him at a minor crash site by his home. Bryant was processed and transferred to county jail the next day.

Emilio Lee Mata, 35, of 506 E. Correll was arrested at 11:31 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10 for possession of a restricted smoking material after police were dispatched to a disturbance at his home. Officers reportedly seized a burnt synthetic marijuana cigar. Mata was processed and transferred to county jail the next day.

Audrey Wilson Hallinger, 39, of 764 Kenwood Trail was arrested at 7:06 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6 on a warrant for hit-and-run after turning herself in at the county jail. She stands accused of being involved in a major wreck Dec. 3 which caused damage to a home and then leaving the scene. Hallinger was processed there. Hallinger posted a $1,000 bond and was released the same day.

Michael James Lee, 35, of Sour Lake was arrested at 5:05 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6 on a Hardin County warrant for being a bondsman off bond (evading arrest with a vehicle) and a local warrant for theft of a firearm. Processed, he was transferred to county jail the next day.

Nathan Hernandez, 20, of 408 E. West was arrested at 8:43 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7 for being involved in a hit-and-run, no driver’s license, failure to maintain financial responsibility and expired registration. Allegedly involved in a crash on West Jackson, Hernandez was stopped on CR 307. Processed, he was transferred to county jail the next day. Once there, he posted $3,500 in bonds and was released the next day.

Other

Jacqueline Sierra Flores, 24, of 510 E. Calhoun was arrested at 9:38 a.m. Monday, Dec. 4 for evading arrest with a vehicle. Police followed her from the 1600 block of East Jackson to U.S. 59 near FM 102. Flores was processed and transferred to county jail the next day. Once there, she posted a $1,000 bond and was released the same day.

City Incidents

Property

Vandals struck a unit at Vallejo Properties, 1610 S. Mechanic, sometime between 10 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4 and 11 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9. More than $1,300 damage was done inside a unit including doors, mirrors, televisions and clothing inside.

Burglars entered an unlocked home in the 1000 block of East Calhoun around 8 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7.

More than $11,000 cash was reportedly stolen from a home in the 700 block of Empire sometime between 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8 and 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9.

Vandals struck the Jackson Inn, 405 W. Jackson, between 7 and 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9.

Violence, weapons

Police are investigating an assault report at Speedy Stop, 502 N. Mechanic, around midnight Sunday, Dec. 10.

Manuel Dominguez Sanchez, 34, of 1217 Muncy was booked at 3:49 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3 for driving while intoxicated second offense. Processed, he posted a $2,000 bond and was released the next day.

Stephen Cordova, 28, of 5218 Glenmont in Corpus Christi was arrested by state troopers at 8:18 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9 for driving while intoxicated. Processed, he posted a $2,500 bond and was released the next day.

Orlando Joseph Romo, 20, of 504 Carson Circle in Wharton was arrested by state troopers at 10:18 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 10 on warrants for one count of theft of a firearm and two counts of marijuana possession.

Property

Patricia Denise Portillo, 55, of 1005 W. Fifth was booked at 6:50 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5 on warrants for theft with two or more previous convictions and driving while license invalid. Processed, she was released the same day on $5,000 bond.

Pervis Earl Kirkland, 28, of 1234 Beaufort Sea in Houston was arrested by sheriff’s deputies at 11:22 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6 for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Andrea Michelle Cantu, 23, of 609 Ave. K was booked at 8:45 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7 on a warrant for criminal mischief. Processed, she posted a $2,500 bond and was released the same day.

Patrick Adam Escamilla, 24, of 1209 W. Alfred was booked at 12:20 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9 on a warrant for theft. Processed, he posted a $1,600 bond and was released the next day.

Erik Desean Parson, 44, of 3217 Blackshear in Wharton was arrested at 12:12 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6 by sheriff’s deputies for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Kenneth Ray McClain Jr., 21, of 1314 Ella was booked at 12:27 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6 on a warrant for aggravated sexual assault of a child.

Other

Ni Dre Quan Joshua Austin, 20, of 3300 Moore in Bay City was arrested by the Wharton County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5 for evading arrest or detention with a vehicle and no driver’s license.

Kevin Eugene Repka, 47, of 803 Betty was arrested by sheriff’s deputies at 2:43 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 10 for evading arrest with a previous conviction, failure to identify and violation of parole.
