Crash damages headstone

Police are investigating a report from Holy Cross Cemetery, 1615 S. Mechanic, involving a damaged headstone.

A hit-and-run driver reportedly struck and damaged one headstone between 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, leaving few clues behind.

Damage is estimated at $3,000.

Kameron Dale Coplen, 17, of 602 Merchant was arrested at 6:49 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13 for possession of drug paraphernalia after being stopped on Lundy. Processed, He was transferred to the Wharton County Jail the next day.

Violence, weapons

Arthur Saucedo, 55, of 1112 Thrift was arrested at 11:15 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 14 on a warrant for causing injury to a child. Processed, he was transferred to county jail the next day. Once there, he posted an $8,000 bond and was released the same day.

Police are investigating a report of counterfeited or forged bank documents between Nov. 9 and Dec. 14. Loss is estimated at about $2,300.

Vandals targeted windows on a home in the 500 block of East Correll between Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. Two windows and one screen was damaged. The report was filed Dec. 12.

One person filed two separate reports of credit or debit card abuse in the 700 block of Avenue I. The crimes took place between Dec. 2 and 11.

A wallet with about $200 cash was reported stolen on the grounds of Walmart, 3413 West Loop, around 11:55 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12.

An $800 cellphone and its holder were reported stolen on the grounds of El Campo High School, 600 W. Norris, between 3:30 and 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13.

A Chevrolet sustained $500 damage on the grounds of Walmart, 3413 West Loop, around 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16 during a hit-and-run.

An incident of family violence causing injury was reported on the grounds of Auto Zone, 614 N. Mechanic around 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11.

Another incident of family violence, this one in the 1800 block of Michael around 5:25 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, is under investigation. One person received non-life-threatening injuries.

Alcohol, drugs

Timothy Ray Edwards, 28, of 810 Dunlap was booked at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 14 on warrants for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, engaging in organized criminal activity, possession of marijuana and unlawfully carrying a weapon. Processed, he posted $29,500 in bonds and was released the same day.

Dontray Jermaine Williams, 35, of 1409 Thrift was booked at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 14 on a warrant for possession of marijuana.

Elyjah Abdual Ford, 26, listed as living at the Days Inn in El Campo, was booked at 11:52 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15 on charges of burglary of a habitation with the intent to commit another felony and possession of marijuana as well as warrants for assault causing injury and two other counts of possession of marijuana.

Michael I. Zahradnik, 60, of 210 CR 133 in Wharton was arrested by state troopers at 8:23 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16 for driving while intoxicated. Processed, he posted a $2,000 bond and was released the next day.

Donta Raydean Robinson, 27, of 181 Hubenake Road in Needville was arrested by state troopers at 5:04 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15 for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. Processed, he posted at $10,000 bond and was released the next day.

Melvin Young Jr., 26, of 6635 Church in Wallis was arrested by state troopers at 5:04 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15 for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. Processed, he posted a $10,000 bond and was released the next day.
