Wayne Allan Korenek, age 60, passed away suddenly on June 4, 2019 in El Campo. Wayne was born Sept. 2, 1958 in El Campo, to Richard and Adela (Pavlu) Korenek. He was the youngest of 11 children. Wayne was employed by Gerbermann Jewelers and a retired self-employed auto mechanic. Wayne liked to watch movies and he loved to cook.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Helen Hubenak and nephew, Kenny Hubenak.

Wayne is survived by sisters, Dorothy Merta and husband Frank of Louise, Honey Stavena and husband Ronnie of Wharton, Beatrice Rachunek of Wharton and Janice Korenek of El Campo; brothers, John Lee Korenek and wife Virginia of Garwood, Richard Korenek of Garwood; James Korenek and wife Jackie of El Campo, Lawrence Korenek and wife Jennifer of Garwood and Dennis Korenek and wife Susan of Nada; brother-in-law, Edmund Hubenak Jr. of Friendswood and aunt, Mackie Pavlu of Garwood. Wayne is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. He is also survived by his beloved extended family Ben and Tina Gerbermann.

Visitation begins at 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 11 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nada with a Rosary recited at 9:30 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Peter Yeboah-Amanfo officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be John Korenek, Buddy Korenek, Dennis Korenek, Ben Gerberman, Cline Johnson, Chris Couey, Honey Stavena and Janice Korenek.

Memorial donations in memory of Wayne may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or St. Mary’s Cemetery Fund.
