Leonor Rivera Coy, 95, of Crosby, peacefully passed away at her home and was greeted by Our Lord and heavenly family on April 19, 2019. She was born June 28, 1923 in MacKay, to Anselmo and Petra Rivera. She was raised and lived in El Campo with her two sisters and one brother. She married the love of her life, Manuel De Los Santos Coy, on Jan. 16, 1956 at St. Robert’s Catholic Church in El Campo and moved to Baytown. She worked over 20 years and retired from Lee College.
In their 50 years of marriage, Leonor and Manuel raised five children, Nora Irene, Manuel Ricardo, Roel Rogelio, Lionel Arturo and Eliza Ann. Leonor was a loving wife and mother. She dedicated her children to God and instilled a strong Catholic faith. She was devoted to praying the rosary every night. In her free time, she loved tending to her garden and especially growing white roses. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Baytown.
Leonor was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel De Los Santos Coy; son, Lionel Arturo Coy; parents, Anselmo and Petra Rivera; sister, Frances Rocha and brother, Raymond Rivera.
Leonor is survived by her daughter and son- in-law, Nora Irene and Robert Delgado of Deer Park; sons and daughters-in-law, Manuel Ricardo and Terry Coy and Roel Rogelio and Lupe Coy, all of Baytown, and daughter, Eliza Ann Coy of Crosby.
Survivors also include nine grandchildren and their spouses, Roel R. Coy Jr. of Baytown, Eric Lee and Myra Delgado of Deer Park, Kristen Suzanne and Jordon Coy of Homer Glen, Ill., Robert Andrew and Elizabeth Delgado of Deer Park, Derek Michael Coy of New York, N.Y., Kevin Ross and Sarah Delgado of Deer Park, Larisa Leonor and Guadalupe Cantu, Marisa Elvira and Ryne Yepez, all of Baytown, and Sarah Leonor and Robert Galindo Jr. of Crosby; seven great-grandchildren, Eric Lee Delgado II, Novalee Lyric Delgado, Andrew Nathaniel Delgado, Jonathan Isaiah Delgado, Nathan Wyatt Delgado, Kevin Ross Delgado Jr., all of Deer Park, and Noah Ryne Yepez of Baytown; sister, Theresa Cerrillo of Victoria; sisters-in-law, Ofelia Rivera of Hitchcock, Lydia Coy of Baytown; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Demetria and Fernando Cisneros of Indio, Calif., and many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom she adored deeply.
Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home on Thursday, April 25 from 5 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 26 at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Terence P. Brinkmanship officiating. Burial will follow at Sterling-White Cemetery in Highlands.
Serving as pallbearers are her grandsons, Roel Rogelio Coy Jr., Eric Lee Delgado, Robert Andrew Delgado, Derek Michael Coy and Kevin Ross Delgado and granddaughters’ husbands, Ryne Yepez, Robert Galindo Jr., and Guadalupe Cantu.
