Norma Staff

Norma Ruth Kocurek Staff, 78, of El Campo, passed away Sept. 8, 2018. She was born Nov. 8, 1939 in El Campo to John Paul and Lydia Kunetka Kocurek. She was a member of Catholic Daughters of America Court 1374. Norma was known for her many homemaking talents as a baker, seamstress, gardener and crocheting mastermind. She enjoyed fishing, family gatherings and was well known for making everyone nervous opening her “gag” Christmas gifts. She loved spending quality time with her grandkids which included teaching them to fish, playing games and doing her “own” version of reading books to them. Two of Norma’s passions that she shared with the love of her life, LeeRoy, were going to and having garage sales along with flipping RVs.

She is survived by her husband, LeeRoy Staff of El Campo; daughters, Karen Cunda and husband George of El Campo and Hollie Harrigan of Palacios; sons, Marcus Staff and wife Kimberly of Louise and Douglas Staff and wife Mary of Wallis; grandchildren, Travis Staff and wife Amy, Justin Staff and wife Kelly Marek, Kori Staff, Patrick Cunda and wife Brandi, Nicholas Cunda and wife Rachel and April Cunda and boyfriend Dakoda Wallace; great-grandchildren, Tanner Staff, Kameryn and Makayla Cunda and Waylon Wallace and sister, Pauline Baca.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Johnnie Kocurek and sister, Anne Bell.

Visitation begins at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11 at Triska Funeral Home. Catholic Daughters will recite the Rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass begins at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12 at St. Philip Catholic Church with the Rev. Oscar Kofi-Amo officiating. Burial will follow at St. Andrew’s Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Craig Staff, Kevin Staff, Chris Staff, Michael Staff, Brian Baklik and John Bell.

Memorial donations in memory of Norma may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research or St. Philip Catholic Church.
