Grace Marie Larson, 100, of Taiton peacefully passed away surrounded by those who loved her on May 8, 2019. She was born Nov. 8, 1918 in the Gobbler Creek Community 10 miles northwest of El Campo, to Frank and Carolina Cook Armatta.
Grace was a wonderful daughter, endearing sister, dedicated wife, loving mother, devoted aunt, caring grandmother and great-grandmother, and good friend to all. She was a homemaker who enjoyed baking goodies for her family, specialty cake decorating and cross-stitch quilting. Grace also enjoyed a good domino game and loved to visit, making many friends along the way because of her kind heart, caring nature and wonderful sense of humor. Her Christian faith was very strong, she prayed the Rosary multiple times a day and was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Crescent Band Mothers, St. John’s Altar Society and the Home Demonstration Club of New Taiton. She brought laughter to the hearts of those she met and she will be missed by all the lives she touched. We are truly blessed by having known and loved her.
She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Larson and husband Ira Polevoy of Evergreen, Colo.; granddaughters, Leah Echelle of Evergreen, Colo. and Carrie Petty and husband Brent of Denver, Colo.; great-grandchildren, Halle Bristow, Hope Bristow, Harrison Petty, Jake Waltz and Cameron Waltz; brother, Wilber Armatta and wife Carlene and nephews and their families, Paul and Jennifer Armatta and daughter Samantha and Jason Armatta and son William, as well as a host of devoted cousins and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clarence and brother Ted Armatta and his wife Emma.
The family is filled with gratitude by the many acts of kindness extended to them and to Grace during her last months in this life. Your prayers and all expressions of love and sympathy are greatly appreciated. A special thanks to her wonderful caregivers who not only took care of her but loved her as well. The family also appreciates the support of Houston Hospice and Meridian Assistant Living Center who became her family and home for so many years.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday, June 6 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Taiton. A Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Memorial Park in El Campo.
